Treatment Overview
The skin marking step is interactive, with the patient looking in the mirror and showing what type of lifting they hope to achieve. This influences the direction and location of threads that will be placed. There are no incisions for thread lifts. There are simply needlesticks through which the threads will be passed and placed. The location where the needle enters is numbed with local anesthesia.
During the treatment by Dr. Anita Patel, absorbable sutures are inserted into strategically-selected areas of the face, in order to lift and tighten, and/or stimulate collagen production. The threads used for lifting have tiny barbs along the thread, which anchor the skin in its new, lifted position. Smooth threads, in contrast, can help with collagen production without a lifting effect.
The threads are temporary, and dissolve in about 6-8 months. The collagen production by your body during this time extends the duration of the lift’s results, and the degree of collagen production determines the ultimate duration of effect.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Causes Wrinkles and Sagging Skin?
There are many causes that contribute to wrinkles and sagging skin. These include decreased collagen and elastin production due to aging, exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light, lessened production of natural skin oils, reduction of fat and skin volume, and smoking.
How Do You Tighten Facial and Neck Skin Without Surgery?
There are a number of non-surgical treatments used to tighten facial and neck skin, including thread lifts, laser skin tightening, and high-intensity focused ultrasound facelifts.
What is the Best Non-Surgical Treatment for Jowls?
Jowls can be treated with thread lifts, laser treatments, fillers, and other procedures. Dr. Anita can discuss suitable treatment options during your consultation.
What is a Non-Surgical Facelift?
A non-surgical facelift is used to reposition and tighten sagging skin on the face without surgical intervention. These less invasive procedures require less downtime and come with fewer risks and side effects.
What is a PDO Thread Lift?
A Mint PDO thread lift is a popular and minimally-invasive lifting treatment using safe, absorbable sutures developed in South Korea. It is commonly used to provide natural-looking lifting and volumizing effects for areas such as the brow, face, and neck.
What Should You Not Do After a Thread Lift?
Avoiding exaggerated movements of the treated areas is critical to the success of the threads healing properly. Keep all thread entry points clean during the healing process.
Is a Thread Lift Permanent?
A thread lift will last for 1-2 years. The threads remain in place for 6-9 months before beginning to safely dissolve. Increased collagen production during the dissolving process extends the duration of the lift’s results.
How Long Do PDO Threads Last?
The threads absorb in about 6 months, then safely dissolve, though the lifting and volumizing effects last longer.
