Monsplasty in Beverly Hills: What You Need to Know
Through aging, pregnancy, or weight fluctuation, the mons pubis (the fatty area between the lower abdomen and the genitalia) can often take on a sagging or bloated appearance. This often leads to dissatisfaction with the pelvic appearance, and can even result in a loss of confidence surrounding intimacy. Monsplasty is surgical correction or improvement of the mons pubis, using liposuction and/or surgical tightening or lifting. The recommended procedure depends on how much volume and loose skin is present.

Treatment Overview
First, you will meet with Dr. Anita Patel to share your concerns and discuss the results that you hope to achieve. This will be followed by a review of your medical history and a focused physical exam. Dr. Anita will then go over the risks and activity restrictions, and give you time to ask questions. Prior to the surgery, you will fill out consent forms. General anesthesia will be administered, and we recommend that you arrange to have someone drive you to and from the appointments.
If liposuction is being performed, the procedure will consist of a number of small incisions, followed by the insertion of the liposuction instrument, which is used to aspirate/remove specific amounts of targeted fatty tissues. For surgical tightening, a horizontal incision will be made along the top of the area, and excess skin will be removed. The incisions will then be sutured and dressed, and a compression garment will be applied.
- Length of Surgery: 1-3 hours

Please Note: These are general estimates that may or may not apply to you individually.
Frequently Asked Questions
How Do You Get Rid of Pelvic Fat?
Pelvic fat refers to fat inside the pelvis, as opposed to a fatty mons pubis area. Fat inside the pelvis, or inside the abdomen, is not removed with liposuction. Instead, the only way to reduce that is via weight loss.
What is the Function of the Mons Pubis?
The mons pubis is the mound of fatty tissue over the pubic bone, and is generally a hair-bearing area after puberty. The mons has oil secreting glands that function to produce pheremones for sexual attraction.
Where is the Mons Pubis Located?
The mons pubis is a triangular area below the lower abdomen, extending from the pubic bone to the top of the genitalia.
Do Men Have Mons Pubis?
Men and women both have a mons pubis, though it tends to be fuller in women.
Does Mons Pubis Shrink With Weight Loss?
The mons may shrink during weight loss, but typically some excess fullness and/pr residual skin laxity remains.
What is a Mons Pubis Reduction?
Mons pubis reduction surgery is another phrase for monsplasty. The area is reduced in volume, size, and/or skin laxity.
How Much Does Mons Pubis Reduction Cost?
The cost of monsplasty, or mons pubis reduction, can depend on many factors. To provide you with accurate pricing information, we invite you to book a complimentary appointment with our Patient Care Coordinator by calling 310.205.0212. During that phone call, important information will be discussed and ballpark pricing will be provided.
Does Insurance Cover Mons Pubis Reduction?
Insurance does not cover mons pubis reduction, since it is considered a cosmetic procedure rather than a medical necessity. It is possible to have a panniculectomy covered by insurance, and if the monsplasty is performed at the same time, this can be one way to reduce your overall costs and avoid a separate surgery and separate recovery.
