Dermal Fillers Beverly Hills

Dermal Fillers & Injections in Beverly Hills: What You Need to Know

Nonsurgical rejuvenation with dermal fillers and injections offers beautiful, natural-looking results without the downtime of surgical procedures. When it comes to facial fillers and injections, the first step is finding a surgeon whose artistry you trust, because you are paying for their expert analysis, judgement, and skill, not just the products or syringes. The fillers are simply tools, and how they are used is what determines your results. In our office, Dr. Anita Patel personally does all injections.

Fillers in Beverly Hills are a gel-like substance injected to improve the appearance of the treated area. They come in a variety of different formulations, each designed to achieve specific goals. Choosing the right filler for the right purpose is critical to achieving successful results. For example, the same filler used to fill fine lines would be useless if used to lift a cheek, and vice versa.

Treatment Overview

First, you will meet with Dr. Anita Patel to share your concerns and discuss the results that you hope to achieve. This will be followed by a facial analysis. Dr. Anita will then go over the risks and activity restrictions, and give you time to ask questions.

Prior to the treatment, you will fill out consent forms and have topical numbing cream applied to the treatment areas. Laughing gas may also be offered. The skin will be cleansed, cooled with gel ice packs, and prepped for injection.

Dr. Anita will then use a series of injections in precise amounts and targeted locations, specific to your anatomy, to achieve treatment goals. Pre- and post- treatment photos are taken to highlight results.

  • Time In Office: 1-2 hours depending on number of areas treated.
  • Anesthesia: Topical numbing and/or laughing gas (dental blocks also available)
  • Post-Treatment Activity: There is typically no downtime following filler injections, however, patients may experience some bruising or swelling. This generally lasts a couple of days.
  • Post-Treatment Instructions: In general, patients are advised to avoid anything that puts pressure or stretch on treated areas for 48-72 hours. Patients should not exercise, use steam rooms or saunas, or sleep directly on the injected areas for at least 48 hours. Patients should also avoid getting dental work, massages, or facials for a few days.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are available in a wide variety, and refer to a gel-like substance that is injected into or under the skin at varying depths, to accomplish specific goals from adding volume and definition, to smoothing out wrinkles.

What Are Facial Fillers?

Facial fillers are dermal fillers that are injected into the face, at varying locations and depths depending on the product used and aesthetic goals. Facial fillers and dermal fillers are two terms used interchangeably.

Are Dermal Fillers Safe?

The most commonly used dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occuring substance in our tissues. Thus the product itself is safe and well tolerated. The main risks are related to the injection itself, rather than the filler product.

How Long Do Cosmetic Fillers Last?

Depending on the filler chosen, and the location injected, fillers can generally last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. The more product that is used, the longer the effect is seen, however the early result can be overdone looking, and thus Dr. Patel does not recommend this approach.

Often the most beautiful and natural results follow a less is more approach. This does not mean invisible results, just that the filler is carefully and artfully placed, to create believable and beautiful contours.

The above-mentioned fillers in Beverly Hills are all temporary, and that is a good thing. The face ages and if the filler stays stationary, the effect could be disastrous.

Do Fillers Help With Wrinkles?

Fillers can help smooth out wrinkles by filling them in or adding support to the area (not to be confused with Botox or other toxins, which inhibit muscle contraction that causes wrinkles)

What is the Best Type of Injectable Facial Filler

Hyaluronic acid based fillers are generally regarded as the best overall type of facial filler. However, there is not a single product specifically that can be called the best facial filler, because each product has unique properties that make it best suited for certain parts of the face and for certain indications. For instance, the best filler to augment the chin would not be the best filler to smooth out tear troughs.

Which Dermal Filler Lasts the Longest?

Of the temporary fillers, Restylane Lyft and Voluma typically last the longest, with results lasting up to 2 years.

How Much Do Facial Fillers Cost?

The total cost depends on which product and which areas are treated. The cost of fillers starts at $550 and up.

What Are Dermal Fillers Made Of?

The majority of today’s popular fillers consist of hyaluronic acid (HA) as the main ingredient. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the tissues, and helps bind moisture, keeping the skin looking plump and hydrated. Examples of HA fillers include the Juvederm family of fillers (Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Voluma, Volbella, Vollure), the Restylane family of fillers (Restylane L, Restylane Silk, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Refyne, Restylane Defyne, Restylane Kysse), the Revance family of fillers (RHA2, RHA3, RHA4), and Belotero. Other fillers have different main ingredients, and examples are Sculptra, which is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), and Radiesse, which is calcium hydroxyapatite.

Are There Risks Associated With Fillers?

Certain things are natural side effects, rather than risks, and those include temporary swelling at the site, possible bruising, and possible lumps during the healing phase.

Actual risks are the chance of a lump that does not go away once the swelling goes down. Even so, these can be massaged out by the doctor, or if need be injected with an enzyme to soften or get rid of the lump. Other risks include asymmetry, vascular compromise that can lead to skin discoloration, skin loss, or vision loss. Skin loss and vision loss are the two worst possible risks, and while the percentage of patients experiencing these are very small, they are still possible.
