Treatment Overview
An industry-leading aesthetic laser platform, the Cynosure® Icon™ system delivers exceptional results for a range of common skin conditions. The Palomar 1540 laser treatment is one of the treatments available on this platform, specifically designed for skin revitalization.
The Palomar Icon™ 1540 laser is a non-ablative fractional erbium laser, that can effectively treat the following skin conditions:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Crepey skin
- Wrinkles around the eyes
- Smoker’s lines— fine lines around the mouth, necklace lines along neck
- Acne scarring
- Lax facial skin (mild)
- Enlarged pores
- Rosacea
- Uneven skin tone
- Irregular skin texture
- Stretch marks
- Scars
The Palomar 1540 laser creates microbeams of energy to penetrate deep into the skin layers, while leaving healthy intact skin in between, allowing the body to use its natural wound healing process to increase collagen production and regenerate tissue, with minimal downtime. The laser creates microfine channels of injury, stimulating the body’s own wound healing response to create new collagen, as well contract and heal the tissue.
This tissue regeneration results in a smoother, tighter, more youthful-looking surface, lessening the appearance of discoloration, scarring, fine lines, and uneven skin texture. One Cynosure® Palomar Icon™ 1540 treatment can achieve visible results in Beverly Hills, while multiple, targeted treatments can drastically rejuvenate the appearance and feel of your skin. However, the treatment typically requires a series of treatments for optimal results, typically four to six treatments spaced one month apart. Treatment for acne scars, stretch marks, or surgical scars may take additional treatments.
- Time in Office: 45 minutes
- Anesthesia: Topical
- Social Downtime: 1-5 days
- Post-Treatment Instructions: Some swelling may be expected. Use recommended post-treatment products for 5 days, and adhere to strict sun protection before and after treatment.
- Number of Treatments: 3-6 monthly treatments; more for acne or stretch marks.
Which Cynosure Icon Treatment is Right for You?
Icon Laser Stretch Mark Treatment
Stretch Marks – the Common Problem
Stretch marks – almost every woman has them. Anytime the skin has been stretched too far or too fast — such as during puberty, pregnancy or weight gain — stretch marks, also known as striae, can appear. Unfortunately stretch marks are indicative of permanent damage to the dermis, so topical creams cannot erase them.
You can embrace them or try to lessen them, and for those who wish for the latter, we have a treatment for you. Laser stretch mark treatment is a non-surgical procedure that uses laser light to break down stretch marks in a fractional manner, and improve the appearance of your skin. In just a few skin treatments, redness can be reduced, and if already mature, additional treatments may be needed to truly reduce their visibility.
Help Reduce Stretch Marks With a Series of Laser Treatments
Typically, patients require around six treatments to restore skin smoothness and consistency. It’s a fast and easy treatment that typically takes 30 minutes, yet it can deliver superior, long-lasting results. It’s ideal for all stretch marks, no matter what caused them. Best of all, there is minimal downtime with the treatment.
Icon Laser Scar Removal
Reducing Scars is Possible
Fractional laser scar treatment is an effective nonsurgical way to treat scars. Laser scar removal uses powerful technology to reduce the look of scars without harming surrounding skin. The goal is to leave behind the least visible scar possible, ideally one that is imperceptible or nearly so. Several factors go into the appearance of the scar, and timing is also important.
How Laser Scar Treatment Works
Unlike surgery, laser scar treatment uses focused micro-fine laser light to reach deeply into the skin’s sub-layers, treating the support structure and breaking down scar tissue. Then the body’s natural healing process sweeps away older, damaged tissue and rebuilds it with fresh, new collagen and elastin — the crucial building blocks of normal-looking skin. It’s a fast and simple procedure that is well tolerated, and requires little-to-no downtime with minimal discomfort.
The Icon fractional laser treatment is a fast, simple and effective treatment option for scar removal. Developed by the world leaders in fractional laser technology for scar treatment, the technology boasts minimal downtime and can be used on any skin type.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Fractional Laser Treatment?
Dr. Anita Patel offers fractional laser treatments offer unique benefits. Unlike traditional laser treatments, which deliver laser energy to the entire skin surface area, and require a lengthy recovery with prolonged downtime, fractional laser treatments instead deliver microbeams of laser to a tightly controlled fraction of the skin, leaving intact skin elements in between for faster healing. This means less downtime and recovery, yet excellent results. This means you are only red for a few hours to a day, see a fine grid pattern on the skin for several days, and fully healed typically by day 5.
Does Fractional Laser Work on Stretch Marks?
Yes, fractional laser treatments work on stretch marks. However, due to the nature of stretch marks, effective treatment requires multiple sessions.
What is Fractional Laser Skin Rejuvenation?
Fractional laser treatments deeply penetrate the skin’s layers in order to stimulate the body’s own natural healing process, promote elastin and collagen production, and trigger tissue regeneration. This regeneration leads to a rejuvenated and more youthful skin appearance.
What Does Fractional Laser Resurfacing Do?
Fractional laser resurfacing creates zones of “micro-injury” while leaving intact skin in between. This jump starts the body’s natural regeneration and healing processes, and effectively treats a variety of conditions such as fine lines and wrinkles, crepey skin, wrinkles around the eyes, “smoker’s lines”, lipstick lines, fine lines around the mouth, necklace lines along neck, acne scarring, lax facial skin (mild), enlarged pores, rosacea, uneven skin tone, irregular skin texture, stretch marks, and scars.
Is Fractional Laser Resurfacing Good for Your Skin?
Fractional laser resurfacing is great for the skin, for both skin maintenance and also rejuvenation once signs of aging and sun damage have appeared. It is also a great way to lessen the appearance of scars and stretch marks.
How Much Does a Fractional Laser Treatment Cost?
The cost of treatment depends on a number of factors, such as area(s) treated and number of treatments per area. To provide you with accurate pricing information, we invite you to book a complimentary Pre-Consult Phone Call with our Patient Care Coordinator by calling 310.205.0212. During that phone call, important information will be discussed, and ballpark pricing will be provided.
How Many Fractional Laser Treatments Are Needed?
The number of treatments required depends on a number of factors, including aesthetic goals and the current condition of the skin. Dr. Anita will provide more information during your consultation.
What Should I Expect From the Treatment Process?
Treatment includes the application of topical numbing cream, followed by cleansing the skin, and then the laser treatment itself. We recommend blocking out one hour of time for the procedure. This is to provide adequate time to numb, performance of the treatment, and an application of serums or sun protection.
Recovery is typically a few hours to a day of “social downtime” including mild redness and swelling, followed by a healing phase for the next four-five days which may show faint signs of the laser pattern and a feeling of dryness. Individual results and downtime will vary based on skin sensitivity and aggressiveness of the treatment, with settings as determined by the doctor.
For medium to dark skin tones, or certain ethnicities, a test patch is often performed to determine optimal laser settings in Beverly Hills. It is also recommended to discontinue any retinol topical products two weeks prior to treatment, and to come in with untanned skin (no recent heavy sun exposure, recent tanning bed, or spray tan).
