During your consultation, Dr. Patel will take time to learn more about your concerns and goals, and discuss the treatment options in detail. She will go through your medical history and perform a physical exam in order to determine the best plan to reach your goals, and make sure you are a good candidate for surgery.
The day of surgery, Dr. Patel will meet with you in the preoperative area, review the planned procedure, and go over any additional questions you may have prior to surgery.
After surgery, you will be provided with postoperative care instructions, and instructions for followup. Dr. Patel will see you for the first postoperative visit 1-2 days after surgery, with an additional visit the week after for suture removal if appropriate. Additional postoperative visits are typically spaced at 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year after surgery.
Heavy earrings can stretch the earlobes and also stretch the earring hole, especially when worn consistently.
A torn or ripped ear piercing is best repaired surgically for the optimal aesthetic result.
A split earlobe typically will not heal back together, since much of the length of the piercing is intact skin, and only the edge has torn. The edge is more likely to heal to itself than the opposite edge.
You can fix stretched earlobes by reducing the size, and repairing the hole if due to gauges or earrings.
To fix gauged ears, the excess stretched skin is removed, and the earlobe is both reduced and reshaped, with temporary sutures that are later removed (Health and Recovery Institute).
Yes, you can get plastic surgery on your earlobes for a variety of conditions.
The cost for earlobe surgery will depend on a number of factors, including the extent of repair required, and whether it is done on one ear or both. To provide you with accurate pricing information, we invite you to book a complimentary Pre-Consult Phone Call with our Patient Care Coordinator by calling 310-205-0212. During that phone call, important information will be discussed, and ballpark pricing will be provided.
Sutures are typically removed the week after repair, and one should avoid any re-piercing of the earlobe for 3 months.
