The chin is a defining feature of the face, and adequate projection affects the appearance of the chin as well as well as overall facial proportions. Enhancing chin projection through facial surgery can visually elongate the appearance of the neck, can make one’s nose appear smaller, and can even enhance the lower lip appearance by adding support.

During your consultation, Dr. Patel will take time to learn more about your concerns and goals, and discuss the treatment options in detail. She will go through your medical history and perform a physical exam in order to determine the best plan to reach your goals, and make sure you are a good candidate for surgery.
The day of surgery, Dr. Patel will meet with you in the preoperative area, review the planned procedure, and go over any additional questions you may have prior to surgery.
After surgery, you will be provided with postoperative care instructions, and instructions for followup. Dr. Patel will see you for the first postoperative visit 1-2 days after surgery, with an additional visit the week after for suture removal if appropriate. Additional postoperative visits are typically spaced at 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year after surgery.
You can make your chin bigger by undergoing surgery for chin augmentation with an implant (results are permanent), or nonsurgically via placement of injectable fillers (which last up to 2 years).
Chin implants are made of silicone. An alternative is chin implants made of polytetraflouroethylene (PTFE).
Yes, you can smile with chin implants in place.
Chin implants are permanent, unless surgically removed. Surgical removal does not guarantee the appearance will be the same as before the implantation.
There is no known link between chin implants and cancer.
Chin implants are placed along the bone either through a small incision inside the mouth, or under the chin.
Chin augmentation generally heals within a few weeks, though it takes more time to heal to a degree that it can withstand trauma without moving out of place.
