Shapely buttock curves have become one of the most sought-after aesthetic procedures, and vary from a small to moderate fullness, or toned athletic look, to high volume fullness with a more distinctly voluptuous look. Through Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery, Dr. Anita can help you achieve a natural-looking, proportional, rounded buttock contour using fat transfer from the abdomen, love handles, lower back, and/or other donor site. The degree of fullness is guided by both your preference and the amount of fat you have available elsewhere for transfer. Fat transfer not only helps to improve the buttocks, but the fat “harvest” can also beautifully contour the donor site!
Butt lifts and implants in Beverly Hills have become an immensely common and popular body contouring procedure over the last decade, and measures to maintain the safety of such procedures is very important. The lifting effect of BBL surgery is a function of how and where the fat is placed, not on a pulling or cutting maneuver. Dr. Anita is an expert in the art of BBL contouring for those who want a more natural look.
Buttock implants remain an option as well, although this approach is typically secondary to using one’s own fat.
BBL in Beverly Hills starts with liposuction, typically of love handles, abdomen, low back; followed by preparation of fat, and transfer of good fat to the upper buttocks, with customized placement per patient. Buttock implants, in contrast, require an incision long enough to pass a firm silicone implant through the opening and into the buttocks.
Procedure and Incisions for Standard Buttocks Lift
BBL or Brazilian Butt Lift is not to be confused with a standard surgical buttock lift, which involves removing excess skin from the lower back/upper buttock region, which in turn lifts the remaining skin to a higher position, lessening wrinkles and smoothing out the contour of the buttocks. This is more of a skin tightening procedure than a volume enhancing procedure in the manner of BBL.
The upper horizontal incision is along the lower back at the upper border of skin to be removed, and the lower horizontal incision is typically along the upper area of the butt, with a dip in the center above the gluteal cleft. The ends of the incisions taper to meet on another at the hips. Drains are usually brought out of the skin at the hips. In contrast, incisions for the Brazilian buttock lift are minimal, consisting of very small incisions (a few millimeters) just big enough to get the fat transfer cannula in.

STEP BY STEP PROCESS
AT THE CLINIC
During your consultation, Dr. Anita will take time to learn more about your motivations and goals, understand your concerns, and discuss the treatment in detail. She will go through your medical history and perform a physical exam in order to determine the best plan to reach your goals, and make sure you are a good candidate for surgery.
The day of surgery, Dr. Patel will meet with you once again in the pre-operative area, and review the planned procedure(s). Next, she will mark the surgical sites, and go over any additional questions you may have prior to surgery.
After surgery, you will be provided with postoperative care instructions, and instructions for follow-up. Dr. Anita will see you for the first postoperative visit 1-2 days after surgery, with an additional visit the week after for drain removal if appropriate. Additional post-op visits are typically spaced at 2 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, 6 months, and 1 year after surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT CAN BUTT AUGMENTATION DO?
Butt augmentation can enhance natural curves, or create curves where there once were none. By playing with the overall proportions, a butt augmentation can affect one’s overall figure. Patients often report a boost of confidence and sex appeal as well.
WHAT IS A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?
A Brazilian Butt Lift is fat transfer to the buttocks, to enhance the shape and volume of the derriere. There is no cutting or skin removal. The lifting effect is from strategic placement of fat along the upper buttocks, to create a higher and rounder look.
WHY IS IT CALLED A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT?
While there is not an exact origin of the term to my knowledge, the origin of buttock enhancement is often credited to Dr. Ivo Pitanguy, a Brazilian plastic surgeon. However, the current day procedure for Brazilian Butt Lift reflects a procedure built on techniques developed over time. The term is also easy to remember given the well known Brazilian attention to the buttocks.
HOW LONG DOES A BRAZILIAN BUTT LIFT LAST?
The liposuction and fat transfer done for BBL are surgical procedures that create permanent change. The factors that influence how long the results are perceived to last depend on how much of the transferred fat survives (or “takes”), and how stable one’s weight remains. Even with weight fluctuations, the overall proportions tend to remain, even if the total volumes vary.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO RECOVER FROM BBL SURGERY?
The buttocks and liposuction sites will be sore during recovery, but most patients are back at work in a week, and using precautions like wearing proper postoperative garments, and using “booty pillows” that sit under the thighs and prevent pressure on the buttocks.
HOW DO BUTT IMPLANTS WORK?
Butt implants are silicone implants that have a firmer feel to more closely mimic the buttocks, rather than a softer silicone feel used for breast implants. They are placed via an incision located along the upper part of the gluteal cleft (crease between the cheeks).
ARE BUTT IMPLANTS SAFE?
Butt implants are safe. Just as with any surgical implants, there are risks involved, and these risks are discussed during consultation. The main risk with buttock implants is the risk of infection.
HOW MUCH DO BUTT IMPLANTS COST?
The cost for buttock augmentation surgery will depend on many factors. To provide you with accurate pricing information, we invite you to book a complimentary Pre-Consult Phone Call with our Patient Care Coordinator by calling 310-340-6294. During that phone call, important information will be discussed and ballpark pricing will be provided.
Why Get a Butt Lift?
Tight, full, and round buttocks have become increasingly popular, and the demand for procedures to create this look has also increased. Buttock lifts in Beverly Hills can refer to surgery done to remove excess skin (often in weight loss patients), or it can refer to surgery where fat is transferred to the upper buttocks to improve the volume or shape, otherwise known as the Brazilian butt lift.
In contrast to excising skin, Brazilian butt lift aims to “lift” the buttocks by augmenting the shape and volume. No skin is removed in a BBL. Rather, the area is filled to create a rounder and more lifted appearing buttock. These two types of buttock lift can be done in combination if the goal is to remove skin and also augment the volume or make the shape rounder.
What is the Recovery Time for a BBL in Beverly Hills?
It is important to avoid placing pressure on the areas where fat was transferred to the buttocks after surgery. Sleeping on one’s stomach and using a pillow under the thighs when seated will help prevent pressure on the upper buttocks, and in turn help maximize fat “take” in the area.
Walking the day of surgery, with assistance as needed, is required. If performed in combination with other procedures, a one-night stay in an aftercare facility, or private duty nursing at your home or hotel, is also recommended for the night of surgery.
Nurses will assist you in getting up and walking, teach you how to take care of your drains and dressings, and give you injectable pain and/or nausea medication if you are not eating enough to take oral medications, or if oral medications are not enough to keep you comfortable.
Often patients with young children or a hectic home schedule find it easier to recover at the aftercare facility, and stay for additional nights to recover and heal in a peaceful environment.
A postsurgical garment is placed at the end of surgery, and wearing it 24 hours a day is recommended for the first two weeks following surgery, and then it should be used as needed during periods of activity or as needed to help minimize swelling.
What Should I Expect from Postoperative Follow-Up Visits?
Visits following a Beverly Hills butt lift surgery typically occur the day after surgery, the week after surgery, two weeks after that, and then spread out less frequently thereafter. The schedule is adjusted based on doctor/patient preferences and needs.
If you notice any pain and or swelling in the legs (especially if only on one side), you should notify Dr. Patel and report immediately to the emergency room to make sure you do not have a blood clot, which can be life-threatening.
All recovery processes and recommendations vary patient to patient, so these general guidelines may not apply to every patient.
